Happy Mother's Day!

Saturday, May 21, 2011

It's been a long time since I celebrated mother's day in KL. In fact, I think since I left KL 5 years ago I hadn't had the chance to celebrate mom's day. So, this year I decided to take time out to return home for mom's day! A 5 1/2 hours journey ride home in my "sickly" old faithful Saga but it was worthwhile.

Admittedly, I'm a mommy's boy. There are just some facts in life that you can't deny and this is one of them :P Mom used to sing "Shi shang zhi you mama hao...You ma de hai zi xiang ge bao..." while patting me to sleep in the town house we used to live in Taman Petaling, Petaling Jaya. The song is stuck in my head until this very day. Beautiful song.

I was a sticky child too. Very sticky. When I was a kid, I remember clinging on to mummy's long skirt during Sunday school sessions. While the rest of the kids there were enjoying singing songs like "My God is so big" or "I love you Jesus deep down in my heart...", I was the kid with the long face clinging on to mommy dearest at the back.

I was a long-winded kid too. Whenever mom scolded me between the age of 3-6 years old, I will bug her asking her, "meee, you love me anot?" simply because I was afraid she don't love me anymore cause she scolded me. Hahaha. In cantonese, they'd say I'm very "cheong hei". Rightly so. :P

Generally speaking, I was a good kid. My parents never used "rotan" on me or my siblings. Well, only this one time when I didn't want to go over to my babysitter. Why? Cause' I was a sticky kid and was afraid mom don't love me anymore and won't pick me up from babysitter after she put me there. Hahaha. Then out came the feather duster, a few "zorro" here and there managed to convince me to stay with my babysitter. :P

Then there was the period where I went through teenage angst, a rebel without a cause. It was a warzone at home at that time. Mom say do this, I don't do. Mom say don't do this, I do. But as always, mom's love always pulls through even in tough times. She still poured me a big cup of Milo every morning and night :)

You know, it's true what they say - Mommy knows best simply because they are the best! Though it was a short trip back home again, it was well spent. To my mom, I love you.

And to all the mothers' out there, know that you're a gem! :)
