A New Song

To me, music is one of the greatest wonders of the world. It possesses the power to reverberate the many emotions, experiences and thoughts of a person through the resonance of its infinite tunes. It soothes, it brings tears, it excites, it relaxes, it inspires. Music is a medium of communication and expression like no other because it connects not just the human race but also between us and God.

Allow me to share a little on what God has been challenging me to do of late. As I walk through this season of my life, God has asserted me to dwell in His presence not just through His word but also in time of praise and worship at a deeper level. But a few nights back I reluctantly picked up the guitar and trudged heavily into worship. Mixed feelings, worries, concerns all wrapped into one curled up inside me, disengaging me from truly seeking His face. But then in the soft random tune that my fingers made as I plucked the strings of my guitar, I heard Him say ever so gently, "Son, everyday there's a new song to be sung".

Everyday there really is a new song to be sung to Him.

Yes, there will be mornings where we'd wake up at the wrong side of our bed. Afternoons where we'd be stuck in a heavy traffic jam under the torrid heat of Penang. Evenings where we'd still be in the office doing over time. Nights where we'd be sobbing in tears in the corner of our room for whatever worries that's hovering over our heads. Yes, truth is... Reality bites.

But whatever it may be... good or bad, happy or sad... and no matter how broken our lives seem to be at the present...

There's still a new song to be sung.
