The Faith Confidence

Monday, July 19, 2010

As a student growing up in a primary school up to secondary school, I have had many incidences whereby I was told by teachers and friends that I was not good enough in this and in that. I could give you a list of examples but that's not the point. I guess for many of us, we all have our fair share of such soul-depressing-confidence-breaking moments.  The effects, for some, remain permanent. Thankfully, through the grace of God, I'm beginning to see His empowerment in my life, taking me out of such experiences into a position of a 'mighty warrior'.

There is power in confidence. Confidence allows one to do what most dare only to dream about.  However, confidence has its limit. At the end of the day, human confidence can be broken. But when confidence merges with the power of Faith, it becomes a  divine chain of immeasurable power.

This is what I call "Faith Confidence".

Human confidence can only take us so far. When the odds hit us with a certain number beyond our human comprehension, our confidence gets shaken. When the unknown becomes too overwhelming for our human mind, our confidence goes haywire. When we're given a task above our known abilities, our confidence  paralyses to a halt. But when faith steps in, it changes the way we see things entirely. Reality goes through a paradigm shift. The odds become minute to the spiritual eyes. The unknown becomes a calling that resounds within our hearts. Unlike confidence, "Faith Confidence" is limitless because it is not birth out of the flesh but of the spirit. It is a stream of living water flowing within our inner man. It is a power that comes only from God.

"I lack confidence" is a phrase I often use, which I'm trying to cut down. I'm sure many of us can relate to that phrase. In truth, when we say "I lack confidence", we're actually saying "I don't think my human abilities allow me to do this or that. Therefore, I don't think I'll do it". But when faith comes to play, our thinking will change and instead of saying that, we will say "I don't think my human abilities allow me to do this or that but because I have faith in Him who empowers me, I will strive to do it as best as I can and allow Him to work through me as I do so".

Faith Confidence pushes us beyond our human capacity.
Faith Confidence shifts our mindset of relying on our human strength to that of exercising our  divine authority and power in and through Him.
Faith Confidence shatters physical evidence but breeds spiritual evidence.

The next time you're about to say "I lack confidence", think for a moment.

Have a little faith...

Because a drop of faith is all you need for God
to cause a ripple of change.
