Summit

After hours of strenuous hike, Jack finally stood tall at the summit of the mountain. He heaved a sigh of relief.

"I made it"
, he thought to himself.

As he stood tall at the summit, he can't help but to admire the scenic view of nature around him. Nothing but beauty surrounded him from where he was.

Just hours before reaching the summit, he was somewhere down below the mountain, fighting against the rocky terrain, struggling to survive every bit of the journey. There was a point in the hike where Jack thought to himself, "What in the world am I doing here anyway? All the way up just to view the scenery? Sheeesh...".

As he hiked, different obstacles came into his path. Even though he trained hard for the hike, there were some unforeseen challenges that caught him off guard along the way. When it came down to that, he knew he had to make a decision to either go ahead with the journey or turn around the other way. Jack made the decision to face the mountain albeit he knew it was going to be one long torturous hike.

Now standing at the peak of the mountain, he felt like a conqueror. Just at that moment, a sudden thought came to mind again, "Why am I here?". Jack was shaken a little. He thought for a moment and just then, the misty air of the mountain began to engulf him. He knew then why he was there.

More often than not, amidst the many unforeseen circumstances and challenges in our lives, whether or not in our work place, ministry, family or even relationships, we find ourselves asking the question "What am I doing here?" or "Why am I in such a predicament?". For most, in times of such difficulties, we find ourselves staring blankly at the question with no voice of answer in return.

Know this;

Difficult patches are NOT the summit but
difficult patches are necessary to lead us on to the summit.

Don't stop when you find yourself faced with an unforeseen circumstance. It's even harder when you think you've trained hard for it and yet still can't seem to get through it. There are just some things in life where even the best trainings cannot prepare you to what's to come. The challenge is to stand your ground, to look circumstance straight in the eye and say to it valiantly, "I will slay you and anything else that stands between me and the summit. I will slay you down". Slaying requires effort and effort don't come by easy. But when you do, you move up a level higher.

When you've reached the pinnacle of the mountain gasping for air, the mist begins to engulf you as if embracing you for your accomplishment. In that very moment, you are reassured of the answer you had it in you all along.

God brought you here.
