The Reunion Weekend
Wednesday, December 10, 2008
Last weekend had been an interesting one, but also a tiring one.
After about 2 month's of planning, we, the PKA-ian's batchmates of 2005, finally executed our reunion outing to the historic city of Malacca!
Really it was a weekend of reunions.
I actually had another clashing reunion with my Residential Bible School (RBS) mates.
Friends whom I've not seen for almost 5 years now.
It was a tough decision to choose between the two but in the end decided to go for the PKA reunion instead due to personal reasons.
In any case, missing either one was a total "Bleh" feeling.
However, I still manage to drop by a little while for the RBS reunion and had the chance to see a few of them.
One of the few reasons we wanted to have a PKA reunion was to catch up with one another, and in some ways, encourage one another especially since it's been only a couple of months that we stepped into the working world. Also, it was a time we wanted to just get away from everything, to get a retreat from work, and just chill with one another.
Though obviously we couldn't get everyone for the reunion, whoever was there made it worth the hassle of travelling. Everyone took effort in terms of travelling. Some came from down South - Kluang, Singapore - And some came from up north - Alor Setar, Penang, Ipoh. Seeing and being with one another, it kinda time-warped me back to uni life. It's like my whole blanket of familiarity and friends came covering me back comfortably once again.
It felt cozy.
We spent most of our time just hanging out.
Most of us took the chance to just catch up with one another.
Since it was only a 2-days-1-night thing, we didn't have much time together.
As always, our tradition is to buat apa lagi.. Makan larrrrr... Hehe.
We whacked sate celup, baba and nyonya food, pineapple tarts, and some whacked the chicken rice ball.
Did I mentioned that the line to the chicken rice ball shop is insanely loooonnnnngggggg?
Don't believe me? Check this out...
Crazy I tell you.
Wait that long just to makan chicken rice ball...
Man, even I don't have that kind of patience.
We visited Jonker Street and most went on a spending spree.
Oh and guess what, we even found a Mervin lookalike!
Haha... Seriously, that scary looking thing had an uncanny resemblance of Mervin, somehow.
Should have bought it for his Christmas present/birthday present :P
On Sunday morning, we visited Melaka Gospel Chapel for Sunday service.
It's been almost two years now since I last visited this church.
Again, coming to a familiar surrounding, a familiar environment, it felt.. familiar??
But it was great attending Sunday worship together with these people.
Even though it was a really short trip, I still find it rejuvenating.
Physically I fell sick lar.. Cisss....
It was great to see each of us still growing strong even after we've left uni.
To know that these people are still making a difference wherever they may be, it encourages me, rejuvenates me and spurs me forward.
Next reunion,
Banting!!!!
