I'm off peeps!

Keep me and my mission team in prayer as we enter four different Iban longhouses in the next 5 days.

Prayer items:

  1. Pray for safety as we travel by air, land and water!
  2. Pray for spiritual protection and covering over the mission team and their family back home.
  3. Pray for openess of heart amongst the Iban community in which we are reaching out.
  4. Pray for spiritual and physical rain to pour down (apparently, the drought there is really bad).
  5. Pray for new insights!
Will update once I get back! Godspeed!

You were there

Title: You were there
By: Avalon

I wonder how it must have felt
When David stood to face Goliath on a hill
I imagine that he shook with all his might
Until You took his hand, and held on tight

'Cause You were there, You were there
In the midst of danger's snare
You were there, You were there always
You were there when the hardest fight
Seemed so out of reach
Oh, You were there, You were always there
You were always there

So there he stood upon that hill
Abraham with knife in hand was poised to kill
But God in all his sovereignty had bigger plans
And just in time, You brought a lamb

'Cause You were there,
You were there
In the midst of the unclear
You were there, you were there always
You were there when obedience
Seemed to not make sense
You were there, You were always there
You were always there

So haven't I learned that my ways
Aren't as high as Yours are
And You alone keep the universe
From crumbling into dust
You are God and though we would
Not have understood You
There You were

Hanging blameless on a cross
You would rather die than leave us in the dark
Every moment, every planned coincidence
Just all makes sense
With Your last breath

You were there, You were there
During history’s darkest hour
You were there, You were there always
You were the Victor and the King
You were the power in David's swing
You were the calm in Abraham
You are the God who understands
You are the strength when we have none
You are the living, Holy one
You were, You are and You will always be
the Risen Lamb of God

You were, You are and You will always be
The Risen Lamb of God

Perfectly made Rubber band

Tuesday, August 4, 2009

What does a rubber band do?

Its basic function is to be stretched.
Big rubber band is meant to be stretch for bigger things and a small rubber band, well, is meant to be stretch for smaller things.
That is its very basic function.

If you think about it, we're like a rubber band.
All of us have a specific purpose, calling, dream or vision given to us by God.
Some of us are meant to do bigger things in life while others smaller things.
Big or small, that's not really the issue is it

The issue is, are we being stretched?
If a big rubber band, which is meant to be stretched for bigger things, is not being utilise for its function, then its pretty much useless.
But if a small rubber band, although meant to be stretched for smaller things, is being utilise wisely and being stretched for its specific purpose, then that rubber band is being used to its fullest.

Are we being stretched at this point of our lives?

God gives us specific calling and purpose in our lives.
Big or small, it's up to your discernment.
But are you heeding that purpose by being stretched by Him?

The Harvest Season

This year is by far the year I have been doing the most travelling and it ain't stopping until the any time soon!

As most would know, sometime in May this year, a group of friends and I embarked on our first 'independent' mission trip into the interiors of Pantu, Sarawak. It was truly a learning experience and a time in which we all encountered God in our own special ways. You can read here for further information about that particular trip.

That was in May.

But guess what?
Come August 9th-15th, I'll be going for my second mission trip this year!

Where?
Into the interiors of Sri Aman to the Iban community.... Again! :)
Although it's Sarawak and the Iban community once more, I'm still looking forward to it as I'll be embarking this somewhat familiar journey with a different group of people altogether.
My church mates...!
(Visit our church Blog here and our church website here)

We will be visiting 4 different longhouses in the span of 5 days!
It is a pretty packed up schedule ahead but nonetheless an exciting one.
Personally, the experience so far in terms of preparation and so on has been an enlightening one. It's very different from my previous trips. Even preparation is somewhat different but I'm glad in the process, I've picked up a few new things.

Do pray for my church mates and myself as we go forth on this mission trip.
I'll definitely update about the trip once I get back...
As for now, loads of preparation to be done!

A simple song in which I was inspired to write in both English and BM. Must be the mission trip bug getting on me :)
Dedicated to the Big Guy!

I worship You (Kau Yesus)
Verse 1
I stand in awe of You
I worship at Your feet
There is no one else like You
You are all that I adore
I worship You

The heaven declares Your name
We Your children give You praise
And we glorify You Lord,
For You are King

Chorus:
Ku sembahMu
Ku b'rikan s'gala puji padaMu
Ku sembahMu
Ku tinggikan namaMu s'lalu
Kaulah yang terindah dalam hidupku
Kaulah yang membebaskanku
Kau Yesus
