made it!

After three fulfilling years as a student, I made it to the stage to collect my scroll, which wasn't exactly in the shape of a scroll.

We made it! :)

That time of the year

Thursday, August 14, 2008

That time of the year has come to put on that robe with pink linen and that mortar board...
The final step of completion and experience of what student life is all about...
Convocation.

Oddly, it doesn't really feels like it's my convocation although it is.
In denial kot...
Sigh.
But I was reminded by a friend that it is a time of celebration.
A time to do throw your hats in the air, a time to receive gifts, a time to be a cam-whore, a time of reunion and a time to be thankful for the years and experience you have had as a student.
Celebration.

It's exciting though to be able to see familiar faces altogether once again.
Probably the last time.

Tomorrow I will be donning that familiar robe worn by seniors before me and as this cycle of convocation repeats itself, all I hope for is to be able to cherish the moment.
Appreciating the awfully bright pink linen, the sardine pack crowd, the sweat in my suit and robe and everything else.

I'm officially graduating... for good!

Lately I've been watching this series called "Pushing Daisies", relatively lower profile than other current series.

I love the concept of this comedy/drama/romance.
From the setting to its plot, it's all so anti-real.
And although it touches on a very dark topic, death, it is done with the most alive manner..
Colourful, witty and comical.
The protagonist, Ned, played by Lee Pace, is simply awesome.
He has a knack for keeping those touchy moments really... touchy.
Good stuff.

I'm not much of a tv person but every once in awhile I'll try to get my hands on some good tv shows and this is one of em'.
:)

P.S - Charlotte@Chuck (played by Anna Friel) is so gorgeous!! :p

11 days to go and counting...

Monday, August 11, 2008

I've got 11 more days to go, 11 more days to try to raise sponsorship.
So far, no good news.
:(
Getting a bit panicky but I'm willing to take the plunge.
Scary.

I promise if you sponsor me, I'll be a walking sponsor board.
:P

Passionate Grace

Monday, August 4, 2008

The weekend has been an "absolut" chaos in a very crazy way (Pun intended).

I drove down to KL after work on Friday with Jo and Vianz for the long weekend (took Monday off... Yea baby!) for this....

Passion, Kuala Lumpur.
For more information, go here.

The reason I chose to attend this conference/concert was because of its mission statement

"Passion exists to glorify God-uniting students in worship and prayer for spiritual awakening in this generation."

It's a student focus organization, something close to my heart.
I just needed to witness for myself what this conference was all about and how it has been ministering and touching the lives of students all around the world.

It really was something.
I think at the beginning of the concert, everyone was just excited to see Chris Tomlin on stage.
Me too.
I mean, it's Chris Tomlin.
He makes good Christian lyrics along with a fine tune to back it up.
And yes, the crowd went nuts when he stepped on stage.

There I was thinking, there must be something more than all this screaming and yelling.
True enough, there was.
Those who follows Passion would know Mr. Louie Giglio.
He was there and at the end of his sermon (yes, there was a sermon - it's a conference!) he told us a true story about this girl name Ashley.
Read here.

To cut the story short, Ashley was once a big screw-up.
She advertised to rent one of her rooms and along came this "fruit cake" Krista, a good Christian believer.
Through gradual friendship and hardship, Ashley opened her heart to Krista and more significantly to Chris.
She experienced the one thing no other gods could provide;
Grace.
It was on the 14th day after Krista moved in that Ashley decided to lay down her life for Christ.
Three months later, Ashley died in a car crash.
Louie was reading everything from her own hand-written diary.
And the pages after her car crash were blank.

She experienced grace.

I believe Passion powerfully ministered to Kuala Lumpur the Amazing Grace that God has given us in that conference.
A reminder of how Christ reached down to by dying on that cross.
I had goose bumps thinking about Ashley and the whole insane idea of grace.
Crazy.

The weekend was crazy as well due to the people I was with the whole time.

My bunch of "Shaka Laka Boom, Boom! Oh Yea! Oh Yea!".
Hahaha...
Finally met Chris T face to face... She's a nut case in a very funny way of course.
Met up with some STOMPer's, my Nutty family and some other random people along the way.
Upon driving back to Penang, I stopped by Ipoh and met up with my jie jie' Tzyy Ling.
Hehe... My milo maker in Penang.
It was good catching up with her and to see how she was doing.

The chicken backsides!

I managed to curi-curi video this from the conference...
Good stuff, I mean musically.
And yes, Chris Tomlin is reaaaaaally good.
